1. What inspired you to create Petite Maison Kids, and how did the brand originally begin?
The idea for Petite Maison Kids was born when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2018 in New York. I was searching for beautiful pieces for her and quickly realized how limited the options were here in the US. I couldn’t find anything that matched what I envisioned—high-quality clothing with a traditional yet stylish aesthetic, pieces that felt elevated and mature while still being appropriate for children.
At the time, I was working as a Neurosurgery PA at Lenox Hill Hospital for 15 years. I didn’t have formal training in fashion, but I quickly discovered I had a talent for design. Once we launched and began sharing our pieces on Instagram, customers immediately connected with the look and feel of our designs. We went viral, and that momentum showed me just how many parents were searching for the same elevated style. That response truly helped shape the brand into what it is today, with our Instagram community of over 155K followers.
2. Your pieces feel very fairytale-like and elegant. What is the philosophy behind your design aesthetic?
My design philosophy is rooted in creating clothing that feels magical, timeless, and elevated—pieces that spark a little wonder while still being beautifully wearable. I’m inspired by classic European style, traditional silhouettes, and the idea that children’s clothing can be elegant without ever feeling stuffy.
I always aim to blend that fairytale charm with modern sophistication: rich textures, thoughtful details, and a level of craftsmanship that parents immediately recognize. At the same time, I design with longevity in mind—styles that look just as beautiful in photos years from now as they do today, and pieces that make children feel special the moment they put them on.
3. When you design for children, who do you imagine wearing your pieces? What kind of little personality inspires you the most?
When I design, I imagine kids who are full of personality and love to dream big. I also think of those who look up to their parents as role models and want to reflect their style.
However, I’m especially inspired by kids who may need a little encouragement to come out of their shell—the right clothing can help them express themselves, feel confident, and feel beautiful. That was me growing up, so my goal is to empower children to feel beautiful and confident in what they wear.
I also think about my own children and the moments we want to celebrate—birthdays, holidays, special gatherings. These are the little personalities that inspire me most: joyful, expressive, and elegant, with a spirit that shines through every outfit.
4. Petite Maison Kids has a strong luxury identity. How do you balance comfort and practicality with a high-end, couture feel?
For me, couture feel doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort—especially for children. Every piece is designed with careful attention to luxurious fabrics, fit, and movement, so that children can play, explore, and be themselves while still looking elegant. Our factory in Turkey, with over 40 years of experience, helps us combine high-quality materials with expert craftsmanship, ensuring that each garment feels soft, breathable, and durable. The key is blending practicality with detail: timeless silhouettes, exquisite trims, and elevated textures that create a couture look without ever being restrictive. I want children to feel special and stylish, but also free, confident, and comfortable in every moment they wear our designs.
5. You’ve dressed so many children for special occasions. What has been the most memorable moment or story with a client?
One of the most memorable moments for me was when a mother sent photos of her daughter, who has a disability, wearing one of our dresses for her birthday. She shared with us that she had never seen her child so happy—when she put the dress on and saw herself in the mirror, her face lit up with pure joy. It was one of the happiest memories for her feeling beautiful on her special occasion.
Stories like that remind me why I started Petite Maison Kids—to create clothing that not only looks beautiful but also empowers children to feel special, confident, and celebrated during life’s most meaningful moments. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that our designs can help create memories that families will cherish forever.
6. How do you choose materials and fabrics for your collections? Is sustainability or craftsmanship a big part of your process?
We love working with natural fabrics like cotton, linen, and wool, and we often incorporate recycled materials as well. Sustainability is extremely important to us, which is why we produce small batches and focus on heirloom-quality pieces that can be cherished and passed down for generations.
I focus a lot on textures—how a fabric feels to the touch, how it flows, and how it moves—because every detail helps create a magical story. We are known for our details, and to me, details are everything. Craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that each piece is not only beautiful and timeless but also thoughtfully made to last.
7.Your brand has grown so much, even internationally. What do you feel helped build that trust and loyalty among parents?
I think trust and loyalty come from a combination of quality, consistency, and genuine care. From the very beginning, we’ve focused on creating beautifully crafted, timeless pieces that children and parents truly love. Parents know that when they choose Petite Maison Kids, they are investing in clothing that is unique and one-of-a-kind—pieces that can’t be found anywhere else.
Opening our first retail location in Greenwich, CT in 2023 has allowed us to connect with our customers on a whole new level—hearing what families need, responding to feedback, and creating pieces that resonate with their lifestyle. Over time, that commitment to quality, attention to detail, and personal connection has helped build a community of parents who know they can rely on us for pieces that make their children feel special and celebrated, season after season. We often hear that our styles have become a tradition for children’s birthdays and holidays every year.
We’ve also gained a strong presence on social media, as our pieces have resonated with influencers and celebrities alike, helping to spread the word organically and internationally.
8. Are there any new collections or directions you’re excited to explore in the coming year?
Absolutely! We’re always exploring new ways to blend timeless elegance with playful, magical details. We are excited to expand our baby layette styles, as well as offer more designs for boys and Mommy-and-Me pieces. Each collection we release is always something new and exciting, pushing the envelope of style and uniqueness.
9. What challenges do you face as a luxury children’s brand, especially when creating pieces for ages 0–12?
One of the biggest challenges we face is being copied by others, including fast fashion brands. While trends can be imitated, our creativity cannot be replicated. We pride ourselves on being always one step ahead, designing unique, story-driven pieces that set the standard rather than follow it.
10. If your brand could be known for one signature thing, what would you want that to be?
I would want Petite Maison Kids to be known for our unique and distinct designs. Every piece is thoughtfully crafted with attention to detail, creating a look that is unmistakably ours—timeless, elegant, and unlike anything else in the children’s luxury market.
