Entrepreneur and simply successful person David Bradford on the pages of My New York magazine

My New York Magazine:

David, you've had an illustrious career, marked by significant achievements and impactful ventures. What core values and principles have guided you throughout your journey, and how have they influenced your success?

David Bradford:

Thank you.

My core values have always been integrity, perseverance, serving others, faith and a commitment to excellence. These principles have been my north star, guiding me through both the highs and lows of my career. Integrity keeps my actions aligned with my beliefs, perseverance helps me push through challenges, serving others reminds me that lam not on this planet for me but to help my neighbor, faith reminds me that life is not happening to me but for me, and a commitment to excellence ensures that I never settle for

mediocrity. These values have not only shaped my career but also influenced

the way l interact with my team, clients, and the broader community.

My New York Magazine:

That's inspiring. Speaking of new journeys, can you tell us about your latest venture?

What inspired you to embark on this project, and what sets it apart from your previous endeavors?

David Bradford:

My latest venture is a financial talk show called *Renegade

Money*. It's designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to take control of their financial future. The inspiration came from seeing so many people struggle with financial literacy and the lack of accessible, reliable resources. What sets

*Renegade Money* apart is its focus on practical, actionable advice and its user-friendly approach. We aim to demystify finance and make it

approachable for everyone.

My New York Magazine:

That sounds like a game-changer. In your upcoming book, *Trickplays of the Rich*, you outline various strategies for financial success. What are the top three takeaways you hope readers will gain from your book?

David Bradford:

The top 3 takeaways would first be the importance of recognizing that very wealthy people have strategies or

'playbooks' that allow them to continue getting rich. This playbook is available to most

people if they are willing to change their mindset and get better coaches. Second, that only using banks, owning a home and investing in the stock market (especially in a 401k) is not a winning recipe for building significant wealth. Finally, the first step in building wealth, as Warren Buffet says, is not improving your returns on investments but on preserving the money you make - it's not what you make, it's what you keep.

My New York Magazine:

Balancing a successful career with family life can be challenging. What advice do you have for maintaining a healthy work-life balance, and how have you managed this in your own life?

David Bradford:

It's definitely a challenge, but it's crucial.

My advice is to set clear boundaries and prioritize what truly matters. For me, family always comes first. I make it a point to be present during family time, whether it's having coffee every morning with my wife, speaking on the phone, or going to church or having dinner together. Communication with your spouse is also key; my wife, Gaby and l always make sure to support each other's goals and dreams. It's about creating a partnership where both personal and professional aspirations are valued.

She's my soulmate and my confidante'. A marriage is like an investment account - if you don't make regular deposits you may find it to be in the red.

My New York Magazine:

What I love most about New York is its relentless drive and resilience. The city never sleeps, and its energy is contagious.

Every corner of New York tells a story of ambition and hard work, which is incredibly inspiring. Professionally, it pushes me to innovate, to stay hungry and ahead of the curve. Personally, it reminds me that no dream is too big and that perseverance always pays off.
