Today is the birthday of the great Russian poet Sergei Yesenin. This news is not accidental here. Sergei Yesenin loved America and New York very much. The poet came to New York with his wife Isadora Duncan in 1922. The poet was very much inspired by this city. This is how the poet described Times Square:
“Before my eyes - a sea of electric posters. There, at the height of the 20th floor, gymnasts made of lamps tumble. There, from the 30th floor, an electric mister smokes, releasing an electric line of smoke that shimmers in different rings. There, near the theater, the electric Terpsichore is dancing on a rotating electric wheel, etc.”In the photo, the poet with his wife.
